Unveiling the Full Process of Medical Injection Mold

Injection molding, also known as injection moulding, is a mainstream production technology in the field of plastic product processing. It is widely used for processing all thermoplastic plastics and some thermoset plastics, renowned for its high production efficiency. In this process, injection molds play a crucial role, and the quality of mold processing directly impacts the final product's quality and production efficiency. So, what are the steps involved in processing a medical injection mold? Dongguan Yize Mold provides a detailed breakdown below:

I. Analyzing Plastic Product Process First

At the beginning of mold design, we engage in thorough communication with clients to gain a deep understanding of the plastic product's process details. This includes the product's geometric shape, dimensional accuracy, and appearance requirements. Through meticulous communication, we strive to avoid unnecessary complexities in the mold manufacturing process, ensuring more precise and efficient mold design.

II. Carefully Constructing Mold Structure

While meeting client needs, we are committed to reducing processing costs, simplifying processing difficulties, and shortening processing times. This requires us to put considerable effort into mold design, not only fully considering client demands but also having an in-depth understanding of injection molding machines, mold structures, processing techniques, and the mold factory's own processing capabilities. To this end, we continuously improve our mold design skills through the following approaches:

Medical Mould

  • Deeply analyzing every detail in each set of mold designs and clarifying the purpose of each part in the mold.
  • Drawing on the experiences and lessons learned from similar past designs to continuously optimize design schemes.
  • Maintaining close communication with experienced veterans to learn and exchange ideas, jointly enhancing design proficiency.
  • Visiting plastic mold processing sites to understand the characteristics and limitations of each processing method, providing practical basis for design.
  • Closely monitoring the trial mold results and mold modification situations of our own designs, continuously summarizing experiences and lessons.
  • Adopting proven successful mold structures as much as possible during design.
  • Studying special mold structures and keeping up with the latest trends in mold technology.

III. Scientific Procurement of Mold Materials

When selecting mold materials, we comprehensively consider product precision, quality, and the mold factory's processing and heat treatment capabilities to ensure the most suitable materials are chosen. At the same time, to shorten the manufacturing cycle, we fully utilize existing standard parts.

IV. Precision Processing and Rigorous Assembly

Mold precision not only depends on the structure and tolerance fit during design but also inseparable from the precise operations in part processing and mold assembly. Therefore, processing precision and the choice of processing methods occupy a dominant position in the mold manufacturing process.

To reduce mold manufacturing errors, we continuously improve processing precision. At the same time, to prevent errors caused by mold wear and deformation in medical molds, for molds with high processing precision requirements and large production volumes, we subject key parts such as mold cavities and cores to quenching treatment. In medium to large molds, to save materials, facilitate processing and heat treatment, we adopt a split-and-insert structure design.

Furthermore, to address errors arising from uneven shrinkage of molded parts and discrepancies between predetermined and actual shrinkage, we generally select one-third of the product tolerance as the mold manufacturing tolerance during mold manufacturing, leaving ample room for adjustment in subsequent molding processes.

V. Trial Molding and Modification to Ensure Quality

From design to assembly, a mold completes only 70%-80% of its entire manufacturing process. Issues such as discrepancies between predetermined and actual shrinkage, smooth mold release, cooling effectiveness, and the impact of gate size, position, and shape on product precision and appearance all need to be verified through trial molding. If problems are found during trial molding, we promptly communicate with clients for confirmation and make modifications to ensure the final product's quality.
